The Neolithic E-bike Experience is an immersive journey where we combine physical activity, history, and local gastronomy. This route takes you from Oliva, on the Mediterranean coast, into the stunning inland valleys. Specifically, we’ll explore La Vall d’Ebo, a charming hamlet in the Marina Alta region with a rich Muslim heritage. Notably, it was the only village in the area to resist the expulsion of the Moors in 1609. Our journey begins with a transfer, during which we’ll ascend the picturesque Port d’Ebo, an impressive 8km climb offering unparalleled panoramic views of the coastline. This stunning ascent is also a popular training ground for many professional cycling teams, including those of Alberto Contador and Iván Basso, during their pre-season.Upon reaching the summit, and if weather permits, you’ll have the chance to visit the impressive Avenc Ample (Wide Sinkhole) or admire the dramatic scenery of the Barranc de l’Infern (Hell’s Ravine). Once we arrive in La Vall d’Ebo, our transfer ends, and we’ll hop on our e-bikes to begin our cycling adventure towards the Cova del Rull (Rull Cave). This fascinating cave is located in the Prebetic Zone and dates back an astonishing 5.3 to 23.5 million years. From the cave, we’ll cycle back towards Ebo along the beautiful agricultural path of the Barranc de Malafí. This scenic route is lined with olive, almond, and carob trees, eventually leading us to the hermitage and the Neolithic Sanctuary of Pla de Petracos. At this significant archaeological site, dating back over 7,500 years, you’ll have the opportunity to witness the oldest collection of Macro-schematic and Levantine art paintings in the Mediterranean. Finally, we’ll return to Ebo for a well-deserved lunch, where you can savour the typical dishes and local flavours of the region.
