On this route you will get to know the old town of Oliva, a city of continuous ups and downs in its historic center, a different way of visiting the city. After an internal route through the streets of Oliva, we will head to the Basses Roges and the Pla dels Frares, a technical ascent with some rugged 4 km stretch that will take us to the top from which we will have a general view of the entire gulf From Valencia. From here we will pass through Carritxar, an old camp, now abandoned, that will take us in the direction of the Marjal Pego Oliva Natural Park, from where we will return along tracks between orange trees to Oliva again.

Basses Roges-Carritxar
The Basses Roges and Pla dels Flares route in Oliva is ideal for mountain biking and hiking enthusiasts seeking a challenge in a natural setting. The route offers a mix of technical terrain, with dirt roads and trails, perfect for enjoying mountain biking.
Along the route, an interesting highlight is the pass through the old Carritxar campsite, a place that adds a historical touch to the journey. This campsite, located on an elevated area, was once used as a camping site for hikers and explorers.
Today, it serves as a reminder of the region’s past and a great spot to stop and enjoy the panoramic views before continuing the descent to the Marjal Pego Oliva, where more experienced cyclists and hikers will find their reward in the challenging trails and landscapes.

LA MARJAL PEGO – OLIVA
La marjal, located between the provinces of Alacante and Valencia, between Pego and Oliva; It is surrounded by the mountains of Mostalla to the north, Mediodía to the west and Segaría to the south, a strategic horseshoe that protects one of the best wetlands on the Peninsula. Throughout its 1,250 hectares of surface, delimited by the Bullent or Vedat rivers to the north and the Racons or Molinell to the south. It was declared a Natural Park on December 27, 1994.
The marsh is also part of the Ramsar Convention for the global protection of wetlands since 1971, it is declared a special protection area for birds (SPA) and is integrated into the Nature 2000 Network of the European Union. Nature 2000 is a European ecological network of biodiversity conservation areas.
